Jurassic Park star Sam Neill dies at 78

Sam Neill, best known for appearing in Jurassic Park and Peaky Blinders, has reportedly died ‘suddenly’, with his family announcing the ‘immensely sad’ news in a statement.

The New Zealand-born actor, 78, built a career spanning more than five decades, with notable roles in The Hunt for Red October, The Piano, In the Mouth of Madness and the Jurassic Park franchise, where he played Dr Alan Grant. He also appeared in the television series Peaky Blinders and remained active in film and television well into his later years.

Neill had previously spoken publicly about a serious blood cancer diagnosis, sharing in 2023 that he had been treated for stage three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. In interviews over the following years, he discussed the impact of treatment on his life and career, and his determination to keep working.
