Kaia Gerber’s friends and boyfriend are searching her Hollywood Hills neighborhood for her missing cat, just days after her brother’s death.
The model’s inner circle — influencer Jake Shane, director Carissa Gallo, and actor Lewis Pullman, who has been dating Gerber for nearly two years — arrived Wednesday to help track down Tony, the feline last seen Tuesday with a tracker on his neck. Photos show the trio posting “Lost Cat” flyers offering an unspecified reward for the pet’s return. Gallo was spotted carrying a large brown envelope with Kaia’s name on it during the search.
The 25-year-old Gerber is already reeling from the Sunday death of her only sibling, Presley Gerber, 27, who was found in a bedroom at a Santa Monica rehab facility. According to 911 audio, Presley was treated for a suspected “overdose” after going into cardiac arrest, though an official cause of death has not been released. He had checked into Resolutions Living’s $7.7 million rehabilitation home that same weekend and was under the influence of a substance upon arrival.
Reports said that Presley had been prescribed ketamine by a doctor despite having what was described as a “regular problem” with the drug. A family representative said in a statement that they are asking for “privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Kaia and Presley grew up together in Malibu as the only children of supermodel Cindy Crawford, 60, and businessman Rande Gerber, 64. The siblings shared what those close to them described as an exceptionally close relationship.
“They were way more than brother and sister,” a source exclusively said on Tuesday. “She is heartbroken. They were like best friends.” The insider added that Kaia is taking Presley’s death “very, very hard.”
Crawford herself is “absolutely devastated” and “inconsolable,” reports said earlier this week. “This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and the family is still trying to process everything that happened,” a source shared. The insider noted that Presley, Kaia and their parents had always been “a tight-knit family.”
Just one month before her brother’s death, Kaia spoke openly to Vogue about Presley’s addiction battle and mental health struggles, and how it shaped her own perspective on seeking help.
“When something like that happens … it kind of levels everyone,” she told the magazine in August. “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help.”
She credited Presley with teaching her valuable lessons about authenticity. “There’s only so much you can hide from the world,” she said, calling him the “greatest teacher” for showing her that truth.
Pullman, 32, has been a visible presence in Gerber’s life throughout their nearly two-year relationship, and his participation in the search for Tony underscores the support network rallying around her. Shane, a social media personality with a significant following, and Gallo, a director and photographer, have also stepped in to assist their friend during the compounded crisis.
The search for Tony comes as the Gerber family continues to grieve privately, with no public memorial plans announced. The model has not posted on social media since her brother’s death.
