Kamala Harris criticizes Trump administration following unexpected private remark he made to her

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly receiving applause from supporters after making a striking four-word remark about the Trump administration during the U.S. segment of her book tour. This comes following her disclosure of a ‘private’ phone conversation with the President.

At 60 years old, Harris is currently traveling across the United States to promote her latest political memoir, 107 Days. The book details her unsuccessful 2024 Presidential campaign that unfolded after President Joe Biden stepped aside from the race, citing a ‘defense of democracy’ as the reason.

According to Simon & Schuster CEO Jonathan Karp, 107 Days is one of the bestselling memoirs of the 2020s. It provides an in-depth look at Harris’s unsuccessful bid against the current US President, Donald Trump, who ran on the Republican ticket.

During the promotion of her autobiography, Harris has shared several notable insights, including one where she compared her loss to Trump to ‘the death of her mother’ and labeled her political rival a ‘con man’.

Recently, Harris has gained attention for criticizing the Trump administration, referring to them as ‘m***erf***ers’ during an event.

While attending the Day of Unreasonable Conversation summit in Los Angeles on Monday (October 6), Harris remarked: “We are living history right now, and you all storytellers are living this. You’re not passive observers, you know that.

“You’re living it, and I would ask you that all the emotions that we are feeling — give those emotions, give that experience to those people that you are writing about and writing for. It gets back to my point about helping people just put a label on it, even if it doesn’t change the circumstance.”

Addressing the audience at The Getty Center, she continued: “Because there is so much about this moment that is trying to make people feel like they’ve lost their minds, when in fact, these m***erf***ers are crazy!”

Reports indicate that Harris’s supporters reacted with cheers and applause, prompting her to laugh.

“I call this ‘The Freedom Tour,’” she asserted once the audience settled down.

The event, co-hosted by actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, screenwriter Greg Berlanti, and producing partners Kerry Washington and Pilar Savone from Simpson Street, also featured Harris discussing Election Night.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Harris, a California native, expressed her inability to ‘articulate anything’ after conceding to Trump.

“I kept saying over and over again, ‘My God, my God.’ I had never felt that level of pain and grief except when my mother died, and I was grieving for the country. I knew what was going to happen,” she shared.

Harris also addressed current censorship concerns in Hollywood, referencing Jimmy Kimmel’s show being temporarily halted following his comments on the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

“I don’t envy some of the folks who are here, who are in a situation where you are being subtly or maybe not even so subtly being sent signals that now is not the time to speak a certain level of truth with certain level of candor,” she noted.

“Every person has to make that decision for themselves, right? But there will always be risk associated with speaking truth.”

Harris’ appearance at the Day of Unreasonable Conversation event follows her revelation in 107 Days about a surprising comment from Trump during a private conversation.

The call took place after the second assassination attempt on President Trump’s life, for which Ryan Wesley Routh was found guilty on September 23, despite pleading not guilty. Harris claimed that during a phone call after the incident in September 2024, Trump assured her he would be ‘nicer’ to her.

He reportedly said: “How do I say bad things about you now? I’m going to tone it down. I will. You’re going to see.”

Trump also supposedly mentioned that his daughter, Ivanka Trump, is a ‘big fan’ of Harris.
