Kamala Harris labels Trump a ‘con man’ after disclosing unexpected remarks he shared with her in private

Kamala Harris has been candid in her latest political memoir.

When Joe Biden stepped down from his presidential campaign in June 2024, Harris took his place and emerged as Donald Trump’s main rival.

The election was tightly contested, but in the end, Trump emerged victorious. He secured the national popular vote with 49.8 percent of the ballots.

Throughout their campaigns, both Harris and Trump engaged in public criticisms of one another. At one point, Trump referred to Harris as ‘mentally impaired’.

Even after Trump’s victory, the verbal exchange continued, with Harris making several remarks about the 79-year-old president in her new book, 107 Days.

The memoir, released on September 23, includes a recount of a discussion Harris had with Trump following the second attempt on his life.

Ryan Routh has been convicted of conspiring to assassinate the president. Despite pleading not guilty, the jury took only 2.5 hours to find him guilty on all five charges, including the attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate.

He could now face a life sentence and will be sentenced on December 18, according to BBC News.

After the September 2024 incident, Harris and Trump had a phone conversation. While Trump was publicly harsh towards Harris, privately, he appeared to be quite complimentary.

Trump purportedly remarked: “How do I say bad things about you now? I’m going to tone it down. I will. You’re going to see.”

He also mentioned that his daughter Ivanka admired Harris, yet Harris remained skeptical of his flattery.

“He’s a con man. He’s really good at it,” Harris wrote, as reported by The Guardian.

In other parts of her memoir, she criticizes Biden, labeling his decision to seek a second term as ‘reckless’.

Reflecting on her choice not to dissuade Biden from running again, Harris expressed: “Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness.”

She added: “The stakes were simply too high. This wasn’t a choice that should have been left to an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition. It should have been more than a personal decision.”
