Karoline Leavitt gives unusual shoutout to Donald Trump during her pregnancy announcement

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has announced that she is expecting her second child, and she made sure to acknowledge the President in her announcement.

While it’s uncommon for expectant mothers to mention their workplace when sharing pregnancy news, Leavitt made a point of doing so in her announcement about her expanding family.

In a post on Instagram, Leavitt, already a mother to one-year-old Nico, shared a photo of her growing baby bump next to a Christmas tree. She captioned it: “The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for — baby girl coming in May 2026.”

Alongside this, she included ultrasound images and a shirt reading “Baby sis.” Another picture showed her husband Nicholas Riccio, 59, holding Niko.

“My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,” she added.

Leavitt extended her announcement by expressing her gratitude to Donald Trump, saying: “I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House.”

She concluded her message by expressing her excitement for the coming year, saying, “It is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!”

Her first child, Nicholas Robert Riccio, known as Niko, was born in July 2024, just before an assassination attempt on Trump at a Pennsylvania rally.

This tumultuous event necessitated Leavitt’s early return to work, a situation she discussed earlier this year while reflecting on balancing her White House responsibilities with motherhood.

“I think every working mother understands the demands. And no matter where you are, what you’re doing, there is a sense of guilt,” she told The Christian Broadcasting Network.

“But I spend every second that I possibly can with my son when I’m home on weekends and evenings.”

Throughout Trump’s 2024 election campaign, Niko was a constant presence. Leavitt managed her responsibilities by working from home with her son and bringing him to the office.

Initially working from home, she mentioned on the Post Run High podcast: “I was able to easily go downstairs and do a quick TV hit and then, of course, attend to my child.”

“Then [I] went back to the office as soon as I could, and brought my baby to the office with me. He was always with me throughout the entire duration of the campaign and just made it work.”
