Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have made their relationship public during their trip to Japan, although a detail in a photo of the couple has sparked some criticism.
Over recent months, Perry and the former Canadian Prime Minister have been seen together multiple times, following the singer’s breakup with Orlando Bloom. Now, it appears they’ve officially confirmed their relationship.
A photograph captures them in Japan, smiling alongside the country’s former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko.
After the meeting, Kishida took to social media to confirm the couple’s status, leaving no room for doubt.
The caption, translated from Japanese, stated: “Former Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch.”

However, some were not pleased with one aspect of the meeting.
The criticism was directed at Perry’s choice of attire.
The ‘Fireworks’ singer wore a camo green two-piece set, which included a jacket with two buttons from the neck and a miniskirt. She paired it with a black turtleneck, dark tights, and black leather boots.
Trudeau opted for a grey slim-fit suit, accompanied by a pale blue shirt, a tie, and black formal shoes.
Online, many expressed their disapproval of Perry’s outfit choice for the meeting.

One user commented: “Her outfit looks absolutely inappropriate for this type of diplomatic engagement,” while another said: “Can she get a fashion adviser?! Short skirt and the boots [hides face emoji].”
Others criticized Kishida for only identifying Perry as Trudeau’s partner, with comments such as: “Sir this is the Katy Perry you’re talking about,” and “U meant @katyperry and her partner* Mr Kishida.”
However, many others expressed happiness for the couple’s official status.
“I just know that Justin is the new MINISTER of her Heart ️and we are SO HAPPY FOR THAT !!!!”, one commented.
Another added: “Your happiness is our happiness. All the love to you!”

Trudeau shared the meeting photo on his own X account, stating: “‘Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.
“Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.”
Perry also shared a personal photo with Trudeau on Instagram, captioning it: “tokyo times on tour and more.”
