Fans of Katy Perry have been left upset after she celebrated her birthday in a rather unexpected manner.
While on her Lifetimes tour, the pop star commemorated her birthday on October 25 during her travels.
To celebrate her 41st year, she made headlines by appearing in public alongside her new partner, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a pairing nobody saw coming for 2025.
Perry, dressed in a striking long red dress, and Trudeau were seen exiting a cabaret performance at the Crazy Horse Paris, hand-in-hand.
Along with enjoying a night out in Paris, Perry’s tour team presented her with an enormous birthday cake.
In a video that surfaced on social media, the ‘Firework’ singer can be seen extinguishing her birthday candles in front of everyone — but it was her subsequent action that caught everyone’s attention.
In a moment reminiscent of Steve Aoki, Perry picked up the cake and tossed it at a crew member, who managed to dodge it just in time.
Some of her dancers then sampled bits of the cake from the floor. The video appears to show Trudeau witnessing the entire event.
Reactions have been pouring in online. One individual wrote: “Katy Perry’s team surprised her with a birthday cake and she straight up threw the whole thing at someone, wasting it all… this woman is actually pathetic.”
Another commented in frustration: “A grown 41-year-old woman not caring about the person who will clean up her mess & the person who put hard work into making that cake. She needs to touch grass.”
Others shared similar sentiments, “Like, someone took the time to make that cake with love and she just throws it on the floor,” one noted.
However, not everyone believed her actions were so atrocious. One defended Perry: “There are actual things you can be mad at Katy Perry about but wasting a birthday cake should not be one of them. Please get a grip.”
Another individual, reflecting on sympathy for the cake maker, remarked: “As a baker, if I got paid then it’s theirs to do what they want with it.”
Another person added: “I’ve never seen someone get so much heat for throwing a cake at someone else. This is so weird.”
