Katy Perry recently had a very relatable encounter when she ran into her ex-boyfriend, John Mayer.
Perry, who is now engaged to Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a four-year-old daughter named Daisy, was previously in a relationship with fellow singer Mayer. Their on-again, off-again relationship reportedly lasted three years before they ended things in 2015.
Back in 2013, Perry, known for her hit song ‘Roar,’ expressed being “madly in love” with Mayer.
“I was madly in love with him,” she revealed to Vogue. “I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind.
“Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds.”
Nearly a decade after their split, Perry and Mayer found themselves at the same Sabrina Carpenter concert in Los Angeles.
Perry was sitting in the front row, while Mayer was just one seat and one row behind her.
The moment Mayer took his seat was captured by a concert-goer, who caught Perry’s reaction on camera.
In the now-viral video, Perry, 40, sees Mayer and initially lowers her head in what seems like embarrassment. She then turns around to greet him with a handshake.
Perry’s genuine reaction has resonated with many fans, who see themselves in her response.
“She’s so real how could you not love her,” one individual commented on Twitter.
