Kelly Osbourne hits back at ‘cruel’ and ‘dehumanizing’ comments on appearance

Kelly Osbourne has responded to online trolls who criticized her Brit Awards appearance after honoring her late father, Ozzy, alongside mom, Sharon.

The Brit Awards returned in style on Saturday (February 28), with this year’s ceremony taking place in Manchester, England.

The night featured plenty of major stars, including Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, Olivia Dean, and other leading names from across the music industry.

But the mood shifted as the ceremony paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who was recognized with a posthumous lifetime achievement award celebrating his decades of era-defining Black Sabbath hits.

Ozzy died in July last year aged 76.

Before his death, the rock icon had played his Back To The Beginning farewell concert in his hometown of Birmingham.

During the Brits tribute, Robbie Williams led the performance, while Kelly and Sharon watched on from the audience.

Still, much of the online discussion focused on Kelly’s look, with some commenters speculating that the 41-year-old had used GLP-1 medication to lose weight.

The Changes singer responded on her Instagram Stories, calling out the remarks being made about her appearance.

She said: “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something.

“Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.”

She added: “None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!”

This also isn’t the first time Kelly has confronted commentary about her weight. After she appeared noticeably slimmer following her father’s death, Sharon previously said the change was connected to Kelly struggling to eat while grieving.

In December, Kelly shared a video on Instagram that was later deleted, where she addressed critics head-on, saying: “All those people, f*** off”.

She went on to say: “To the people who keep thinking they’re being funny and mean by writing comments like ‘Are you ill,’ or ‘Get off Ozempic, you don’t look right,’ my dad just died, and I’m doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family.”

Speaking to People, she also reflected on the scrutiny she has faced over the years, saying: “I have been a drug addict, an alcoholic … I’ve been a complete mess, disrespectful to people, horrible.

“But I got more s*** for being fat than I did for anything else. It’s insane.”
