Kevin Feige has confirmed that Miles Morales is part of Marvel Studios’ long-term plans, paving the way for the popular Spider-Man successor to eventually enter the live-action MCU.
The Marvel Studios president made the comments during a recent interview in Shanghai, where he was asked about the future of Spider-Man and whether Miles could one day make the jump from animation to live action. Feige’s remarks arrive at a moment when Marvel and Sony are both actively moving the character’s world forward on multiple fronts.
In live action, Spider-Man is currently set to return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026. In animation, Sony’s Spider-Verse trilogy is continuing with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is currently slated to hit theaters on June 18, 2027.
During the press event, Feige responded to ongoing calls from fans who want to see Miles move from the animated Spider-Verse films into the live-action franchise, whether alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker or as a future lead.
For now, Miles remains at the centre of Sony’s animated series, where he is voiced by Shameik Moore. But Feige indicated that both studios already know how his live-action debut could happen once that storyline reaches its conclusion.
“The good news is, Sony has the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, which are very popular and excellent, and Beyond the Spider-Verse is coming out,” Feige explained. “But yes, we definitely have plans [for a live-action Miles], and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends.”
He also pointed out that hints about Miles have already appeared within the MCU.
One of the earliest references came in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, when Donald Glover appeared as Aaron Davis, the uncle of Miles Morales and the man known in the comics as the Prowler. In that film, he mentions having a young nephew in New York.
Another moment arrived in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, when Jamie Foxx’s Electro joked to Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker that there was “bound to be a Black Spider-Man somewhere.”
“Audiences around the world were thrilled because they knew it might be a hint at Spider-Man Miles,” Feige noted.
Feige also suggested that future Spider-Man stories are already being mapped out in detail behind the scenes.
“We’ve been thinking and discussing more Spider-Man adventures, regardless of agreements or contracts. My production partner, Amy Pascal, is already working on it, and we’ve had in-depth discussions about what the next two, three, four, and five Spider-Man movies might be about.”
The timing appears to depend on the completion of Sony’s animated trilogy, and Feige’s comments line up with earlier public remarks from Sony producer Amy Pascal, who said in 2023 that a live-action Miles Morales project was in development. Tom Holland has also said in recent interviews that he would like to help bring Miles into the MCU, calling it a goal he feels strongly about.
If the current release plan holds, that means Miles’ live-action debut would likely come after Beyond the Spider-Verse reaches theaters, rather than during the current run of Peter Parker stories. For now, the two Spider-Man tracks appear to be running in parallel, with Sony’s animated franchise continuing Miles’ story and Marvel Studios laying the groundwork for whatever comes next.
So while audiences may need to wait until Miles’ animated story is finished before seeing him suit up in live-action, Feige’s remarks leave little doubt about the direction of travel. The remaining mystery is not whether Miles Morales will join the MCU, but when it will finally happen.
