Khloé Kardashian has opened up about the loss of her grandmother, Mary Jo ‘MJ’ Shannon, describing one part of their bond as one of the “greatest blessings” of her life.
Mary Jo died on July 16 at 91 years old. Her daughter, Kris Jenner, confirmed the news in an emotional online tribute.
MJ, also known as Mary Jo Campbell, was a familiar figure to Kardashian-Jenner fans for her appearances on the family’s reality shows, including Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Kardashians.
Several days later, on July 19, Khloé shared her own message in honor of MJ, reflecting on her grandmother’s impact on the family and the memories they shared.
In the tribute, Khloé spoke about how much it meant that her children got to know their great-grandmother personally.
“Thank you for showing us that life is meant to be celebrated, that laughter is healing, and that love is the greatest legacy we can leave behind,” she wrote. “You lived so fully, so gracefully, and so beautifully.”
She added: “One of my greatest blessings will always be that my children knew their great-grandmother. That they experienced your hugs, your stories, your joy, and the incredible light you carried so effortlessly.”

Kris Jenner had earlier described her mother as the family’s “rock,” and Khloé echoed that sense of centrality in a post that also featured photos of the two together over the years.
“You taught us that love never leaves,” she wrote.“It lives on in the family you built, the traditions we’ll continue, the stories we’ll tell, and every time we choose joy. Your love will forever be woven into who we are.
“Thank you for every lesson, every laugh, every embrace, and every piece of your heart you gave so freely. You were truly one of one.”
Khloé also shared her hope that MJ had been reunited in heaven with loved ones who had gone before her.
She added: “And I know you kept your promise telling my daddy just how deeply we love him and how much we miss him.”
Khloé concluded: “I know you’re happy having your Coke, tuna sandwich and graham crackers with papa Harry while Karen dances around you. Until we meet again, my sweet MJ! I love you.”

Kim Kardashian also shared a message remembering her grandmother and the role she played in shaping the family.
Kim wrote: “You taught all of us the importance of family, and those values are something we’ll carry with us forever!!!!!!”
She also described MJ as her ‘best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin’.
Kim added: “You were the woman who showed me what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman.”
When announcing her mother’s death on July 16, Kris Jenner wrote: “There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye.
“My mom was the heart of our family. She taught me everything that truly matters … to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and to never take a single moment together for granted.”
Other well-known figures, including Ellen DeGeneres and Selma Blair, also shared messages of condolence online.
MJ is survived by the Kardashian-Jenner family, who have continued to honor her memory with tributes and throwback photos shared across social media in the days following her death.
