Kim Kardashian is facing criticism from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) after gifting puppies to her children for Christmas.
The reality TV star shared on social media that her kids North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, seven, and Psalm, six, each received a dog.
“Each kid got a puppy,” Kim noted alongside footage of the Pomeranian pups, seen playfully exploring their new home.
Kim also posted detailed images of each puppy, one of which was adorned with a red bow tie.
The decision to give her children puppies as presents drew mixed reactions from her followers, sparking an online discussion.
“They treat animals like monopoly. Like yeah they’re really cute but,” commented one user, while another added: “They are running out of things to buy since they have and get anything they want year round.”

Concerns for the animals were also raised, with one individual stating: “Poor dogs. I hate how they treat animals as accessories or toys.”
PETA, known for advocating animal rights globally, also voiced their disapproval through Ingrid Newkirk, the organization’s founder. She criticized both Kim and her sister Khloe Kardashian, who similarly acquired a new dog for the holiday.
“Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that,” he told the Daily Mail.
“Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous, and so we ask Kim and Khloe, who did the same thing, to call PETA or a local shelter the next time they want to bring an animal into their home—and try to make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter or paying for a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis.”

This is not the first instance in which PETA has criticized Kim. In January 2023, the organization criticized her for posting a video showing her dogs in a cage in the garage.
PETA expressed to Page Six: “Knowing that Kim Kardashian is anti-fur and mostly vegan, we are hoping hard that she does not relegate her dogs to life in a garage.
“What PETA does know is that dogs are highly social pack animals who need more than just soft beds and decorative stockings.
“They deserve to feel safe, loved, and to live inside the house as part of the family.”
Attempts have been made to reach out to Kim Kardashian’s representatives for a comment.
