Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Kanye West Divorce Impacting Bond with Daughter North

Kim Kardashian recently shared insights into an unexpected change in her relationship with her eldest daughter, North West, following her separation from Kanye West. The couple, who ended their marriage in November 2022, have four children together: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

In a recent episode of The Kardashians that aired on February 27, Kim discussed how her divorce has affected her bond with 11-year-old North during a conversation with her sister Kourtney over a game of ping pong.

Kim recounted a surprising development, noting, “Tell me if this happened with Mason. North is like, obsessed with me now and like, calls me with her friends, like, ‘Mom I love you, you’re the best mom, I love you so much.'”

Kourtney mentioned that North has always been affectionate towards Kim and questioned whether Kim had changed in any way that might explain the new behavior.

Reflecting on the past, Kim admitted there was a period when North was upset with her, and she agreed with Kourtney’s suggestion that the shift could be attributed to the divorce. Kim remarked, “It’s insane the turnaround.”

Previously on the show, Kim revealed that North had expressed a preference for her father’s house. A 2023 episode highlighted North’s comments about Kanye’s lifestyle, saying, “She’ll go to her dad’s. She’ll be like: ‘Dad’s the best! He has it all figured out. He doesn’t have a nanny, he doesn’t have a chef, he doesn’t have security, he lives in an apartment’.”

Kim shared that North sometimes criticizes her cooking, with North candidly stating, “Heck no,” when asked by a producer if her mom could cook.

Kourtney offered her own perspective, drawing parallels to her experiences with co-parenting alongside her former partner Scott Disick. She shared that her children often tell her that their dad’s house has a better “vibe,” despite it not being very large. Kourtney explained, “I feel like everything falls on the parent that’s more involved,” and added, “Obviously, having nannies and a chef to help cook is beyond helpful. It’s all about family and enjoying these moments. It takes a village to raise kids, but at the end of the day, your kids only want you.”
