How Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have managed to avoid criticism from fashion enthusiasts is quite puzzling.
It seems their messy separation has escalated into a competition over who can launch the most controversial clothing item. Recently, a new NSFW release from Skims has stirred significant backlash.
First, there’s Kanye West, who reportedly spent over $8 million on a Super Bowl commercial earlier this year to promote his clothing line, Yeezy.
Not long after, the collection was removed from the site and replaced with a shirt featuring a swastika, which hinted at Nazi ideologies.
Following this, Kanye took to Twitter to declare: “I’m a Nazi… I love Hitler.”
Although the latest offering from Skims isn’t as overtly provocative, it certainly aims for a shock effect.
Priced at $32, customers can now purchase the ‘faux hair micro string thong.’ This item resembles a thong with bushy pubic hair and is available in various ‘hair colors’.
The product description states: “Our most daring panty yet. Hand-made in a super sheer, stretch mesh, this string thong features a mix of curly and straight faux hair in twelve different shade variations. Complete with elastic side straps. Fits true to size.”
Why bother with the natural growth of a bush when you can easily acquire one? Clearly, that sentiment resonated with many, as all 12 limited edition colors – from ‘clay ginger straight’ to ‘cocoa black curly’ – quickly sold out.
Unsurprisingly, these pubic-themed panties have sparked online debate.
“This family didn’t just embrace filth and vulgarity they redefined it,” one critic commented on Instagram.
Another questioned: “Why would we buy this when we can all grow our own?”
Someone else humorously remarked: “Girl i got this for free? wtf.”
Adding to the conversation, one more commented: “Meanwhile my bush is free.”
The 44-year-old Hulu star took to Instagram to showcase the new release, referring to them as ‘funny’ and chuckling.
In her Story, she added: “We have different colors, different hair – this is insane. Skims baby!”
The new item from Kim and her team appears to be a playful jab, and many find it amusing.
“It’s giving Ed Gein vibes,” another Instagram user noted… and it’s hard to disagree!
