Kyrie Irving might return to the court for the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday after apologizing for offending the Jewish community by posting a link to an anti-Semitic video.
The Nets categorized Irving as doubtful for Saturday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies (7 p.m. ET, League Pass). He has missed the previous eight games.
On Nov. 3, the club banned the point guard for at least five games without pay after he declined to state he had no antisemitic sentiments when questioned about a since-deleted tweet on his Twitter profile.
Irving said on Saturday: “I just want to apologize deeply for all my actions throughout the time that it’s been since the post was first put up. I’ve had a lot of time to think. But my focus, initially, if I could do it over, would be to heal and repair a lot of my close relationships with my Jewish relatives, brothers and sisters.”
During his suspension, Irving spoke with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Nets owner Joe Tsai, who both stated that they do not believe he harbors antisemitic sentiments.
