Latest Developments After Woman Disappears from Holland America Cruise, Police Release Significant Update

Authorities have provided an important update regarding the disappearance of a US woman from a cruise ship last week.

The disappearance of Amy Bradley, who went missing near Curaçao earlier this year, has sparked fresh interest in the mysteries surrounding cruise ships, as highlighted in a Netflix documentary.

Recently, there was a tragic incident involving an 18-year-old high school student, Anna Kepner, who passed away on a Carnival Cruise ship.

Currently, attention is focused on the Caribbean again as a 55-year-old American woman has also gone missing.

Ann Evans, a passenger on Holland America’s Rotterdam, was reported missing on Thursday, November 20, during a stop in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten.

Reports indicate she disembarked the ship at 10 am for a scheduled island tour.

It is believed that she exited the tour bus in Marigot, on the French side of Sint Maarten, and did not return, according to her missing person’s report. Authorities addressed Evans directly, urging her to contact her family or officials to assure them of her safety if she sees the alert.

The case quickly captured online attention as many speculated about Evans’ whereabouts following her departure from the tour. On Thursday, November 27, police provided a significant update on the case.

Authorities disclosed that a woman fitting Evans’ description checked into a hotel on the French side using her passport. She has reportedly been seen in the vicinity of the hotel as well.

Police are collaborating with both French and Dutch authorities to confirm if the woman is indeed Evans.

Sint Maarten is located in the northeastern Caribbean, approximately 190 miles east of Puerto Rico. The island is divided into Dutch territory in the south and French territory in the north.

With a land area of 34 square miles, it holds the distinction of being the smallest inhabited island in the world that is shared by two nations.

A representative from Holland America Line told Newsweek: “A guest on Holland America Line’s Rotterdam did not return to the ship on November 20 following a visit to Philipsburg, Sint Maarten.

“We notified local authorities immediately and we are working closely with them to confirm the guest’s whereabouts.

“Rotterdam is on a 12-day Caribbean voyage which departed Fort Lauderdale on November 16.”

According to its official website, the Rotterdam ship from the cruise liner accommodates 2,668 guests in six types of cabins, ranging from the Inside to the Neptune Suite.

The island reportedly attracts around two million cruise tourists annually, according to Panama magazine. Visitors are drawn to its pristine white sand beaches, vibrant nightlife, and duty-free shopping options.
