The newest Euphoria episode has left plenty of viewers feeling both drained and baffled, and Sydney Sweeney’s latest storyline has triggered another round of online uproar.
Sunday night’s chapter of the HBO drama pushed things even further, and if you thought the series had already maxed out its shock factor, episode 6 — titled Stand Still and See — suggested otherwise.
This week, Cassie (Sweeney) continues leaning hard into her booming OnlyFans success, heading to the Silver Slipper strip club to film explicit new content. She’s joined by her manager and former best friend Maddy (Alexa Demie), setting the stage for an especially chaotic shoot.
Perched on the bar in a hot pink bikini alongside dancers Magick (played by Spanish star Rosalia in an unexpected casting) and Kitty (Anna Van Patten), Cassie appears completely committed to the moment.

And then the snake arrives.
In a scene that instantly lit up social media, Cassie — wearing little more than a beige thong — grapples with a large white python for her subscribers.
Snakes have carried sexual symbolism for centuries, and the visual of a nearly nude woman posed with a powerful constrictor has long been used in provocative pop culture imagery, from old pulp covers to modern music videos.
But the episode doesn’t linger on that alone. Cassie also lands an audition for a series called LA Nights, where she meets showrunner Patty, played by Sharon Stone. Patty lays down a brutal condition: delete OnlyFans or lose the role.
After wavering — and failing to reach her husband Nate (Jacob Elordi) for reassurance, following last week’s grisly moment in which loan shark Naz had his ring finger and toe cut off — Cassie deletes her account and secures the part.
The relief doesn’t last. In one of the episode’s most nauseating turns, she later receives a mysterious FedEx package containing Nate’s severed ring finger.
Just a regular Sunday on HBO, apparently.
Elsewhere, Nate continues what might be the worst week any TV character has ever had. He’s shown raging at protected flowers that have stalled his construction plans and deepened his financial hole, before being confronted yet again by the man who has already taken two body parts from him — a clear sign things are about to spiral further.
On Rue’s (Zendaya) side of the story, last week’s cliffhanger is resolved (yes, she survives being buried up to her neck). Rue strikes a deal with strip club boss Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) by sacrificing her friend Faye (Chloe Cherry), while simultaneously trying to pressure Faye into helping rob a drug dealer’s safe.
Rue’s night then veers into the surreal: she experiences a religious awakening, goes to church, tells her mum she believes God is real and redemption is possible, nearly dies in a car crash, and spots a burning bush on the roadside.

As the episode landed, Reddit filled up with reactions, and the consensus seemed far from unified.
With only two episodes remaining this season, some viewers were outright frustrated.
“I can’t believe there’s only two episodes left and this is what Sam has done to Jules and Nate. Complete character assassination with no compelling storylines whatsoever.”
“Where is the writing this season? It’s so bad. Where are these storylines even going? How is it at all possible to wrap them up in a satisfying way with only 2 episodes left? echoed another.
Others didn’t bother with nuance.
“What is this show even about??? Feet, poop, sand, and beating Nate up?”

Even with the season splitting opinion, many viewers seem aligned on one point: Zendaya’s performance continues to stand out.
“Zendaya is f*cking incredible, especially in this episode,”
“def getting an Emmy after this season.”
New episodes of Euphoria season 3 air Sundays on HBO Max at 9pm ET, with the season finale set for May 31.
