Latto Brings Stacey Abrams Onstage During Atlanta Concert: “My Body, My Choice”

“My body, my choice,” rapper Latto and politician Stacey Abrams declare to voters ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

Latto is now the opener for Lizzo’s The Special Tour, which just stopped in Atlanta, Georgia. Abrams made an unexpected cameo during Latto’s performance of her reproductive rights anthem “P*ssy.”

The “Big Energy” singer released “Pssy” in July, just after Roe v. Wade was overturned. The official music video for the song includes footage of anti-ruling rallies. This summer, Latto collaborated with Planned Parenthood to make a public service announcement pushing her fans to take action. She donated a percentage of the organisation’s revenues from “Pssy”.

On Saturday, Abrams appeared onstage alongside Latto’s backup dancers at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. At first, Abrams blended in with the other dancers, holding a pink banner that read rallying cries like “Protect women’s rights,” “my body, my choice,” and the short and to-the-point “p*ssy.”

Abrams then lifted her placard into the air and stepped center stage, as seen exclusively in photographs and video shared with Teen Vogue. “Give it up for the queen herself, Stacey Abrams,” Latto added to applause from the audience.

Abrams is the current Democratic contender for Governor of Georgia, taking on Republican incumbent Brian Kemp. Abrams and Kemp battled on some subjects, including abortion and reproductive rights, during a discussion last week following the start of early voting. Abrams dubbed her opponent a “far-right extremist” in a tweet earlier this month, alleging that he had “stripped women of their bodily autonomy.” Kemp signed the state’s draconian six-week abortion ban into law in 2019.

“I’m not gonna interrupt your fun,” Abrams said after Latto handed her the mic. “But I just want to remind you that if you believe in my body, my choice, I need your vote! This is our time. This is our choice. And this is our year!

“I need your big energy,” Abrams said as the crowd went wild. “Let’s get it done.” In a post to Instagram following the concert, Stacey wrote: “Thank you for sharing your stage with me, @latto777. Time to vote and protect a woman’s right to choose.”
