Law Roach has walked back his claim that Zendaya and Tom Holland secretly married.
The celebrity stylist, 46, declared on the red carpet at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards that the Spider-Man co-stars are “not officially married” yet, directly contradicting his own bombshell comments from March. Roach had initially told Access Hollywood at the Actor Awards that the wedding “already happened” and the public “missed it,” then doubled down during Oscars weekend by insisting to reporters, “I said what I said.”
Pressed at the Emmys on whether the couple had tied the knot, Roach stated firmly, “That’s not true,” shooting down recent speculation fueled by viral social media clips that purported to show private nuptials. When asked directly if Holland and Zendaya were not officially married, he set the record straight: “Not yet.”
Roach offered an explanation for why Holland has occasionally referred to Zendaya as his spouse in past interviews. “I mean, she’s been his wife for a really long time now,” he said with a laugh. “But it’s not official yet.”
The stylist’s March claim had sent pop culture fans into a frenzy and triggered global speculation about the fiercely private couple’s relationship status. When reminded at the Emmys that he had previously led the entire internet to believe they were already wed, Roach faced questions about whether he might simply be lying again to protect their privacy.
Roach also addressed AI-generated images that had circulated purporting to show a wedding ceremony. “The AI images were totally fake, for sure,” he commented. “That dress was ugly. I would not have dressed her in that.”
Holland and Zendaya first crossed paths while filming 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and confirmed their off-screen romance years later. Speculation about their engagement reached fever pitch when Tom’s father, Dominic Holland, confirmed in early 2025 that Tom had formally proposed after seeking permission from Zendaya’s father. The couple celebrated a wedding reception on August 4, though neither star has personally confirmed or denied such claims.
Both actors are currently navigating packed production schedules, including the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day and continued work on the Dune franchise.
