Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Layla Taylor has publicly shared that she is bisexual, opening up about why she decided this was the right moment to speak about it.
Layla became widely known after appearing on Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, where viewers have followed her life as a divorced mother of two and her on-screen dating journey.
On June 29, 2026, Layla discussed her sexuality on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, where she said she is dating a woman and reflected on the pressure she felt for years to keep that part of herself private.
The episode, released during Pride Month, centered on coming out, identity, faith and the freedom of finally being honest about who she is.
Layla also explained that her divorce played a role in helping her feel ready to speak publicly, and said she had not yet discussed the news with her castmates.
Although her relationship with Mason McWhorter appeared to be progressing well on screen, Layla confirmed earlier this year that they had ended things.
Speaking to followers on TikTok in February, she addressed the split directly.
“I think everyone’s already noticed, and there’s pages already making videos about it, so I just wanted to hop on here to kind of set the record straight on something.”
She then added:
“Obviously, me and Mason are no longer together. It’s still super fresh.”

During the podcast, Layla said:
“I’m gay and I’m bi and date women and men.”
She went on to explain:
“It’s just something that I honestly didn’t really know how to formally address for a long period of my life,”
Layla also said:
“We’re only on this earth for however long we are here and I’ll be damned if I’m not able to be fully who I am.”
She further revealed that she had been messaging a woman, later meeting up with her in person. According to Layla, the meeting included a kiss that helped confirm what she was feeling.
“We met up, and we hung out and it was just kind of like that first kiss of, like, this wasn’t like a drunk moment,” she said. “Like this was me intentionally going into a moment knowing how I felt about women.”
The disclosure may come as unexpected news to some viewers, especially as Layla explained that she has not yet discussed it with her Secret Lives of Mormon Wives castmates.
She said the reason was largely due to distance and timing since filming paused.
“I know that there’s some friendships that are in different places than they have been in the past.
“But I think right now we’ve just been kind of a little separate since just going on that pause from filming and everything like that. So I just haven’t seen any of them in person.”
