Lil Nas X has addressed the public following his arrest for allegedly attacking police officers while being unclothed in public.
The 26-year-old artist, known offstage as Montero Lamar Hill, made a return to Instagram following the widely publicized incident that occurred early Thursday morning (August 21).
Reports claim the Grammy-winning musician ‘charged at’ and assaulted an officer who encountered him unclothed on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City just before 6am.
He now faces four felony charges, including three counts of battery resulting in injury to a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.
Witnesses say Lil Nas X was initially in white briefs and white cowboy boots, but completely undressed as law enforcement responded to the call regarding a nude individual in the area.
Upon locating Hill, officers suspected he might be experiencing a drug overdose and transported him for medical evaluation before detaining him.
During the encounter, three officers reportedly sustained injuries.
Now, the Atlanta-based singer, noted as the only openly gay man to win a Country Music Association award, has broken his silence regarding the incident.
Via his Instagram story, Hill stated: “Your girl is going to be OK, y’all. She’s going to be alright, she’s going to be alright.”
The ‘Industry Baby’ performer continued: “S***. That was f***ing terrifying. That was terrifying! That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”
This statement follows his not guilty plea to the charges during a court appearance in Los Angeles on Monday (August 25).
Bail was set at $75,000, according to CBS, and he has been instructed to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings. A conviction could result in a lengthy prison sentence.
Unverified video shared by TMZ seems to capture the rapper dancing along the busy roadway in his skimpy attire before allegedly appearing fully nude and walking in the middle of traffic.
In the footage, Lil Nas X is reportedly heard asking the person filming: “Hey, don’t be late to the party tonight?”
Someone passing by reportedly found his white cowboy boots and has put them up for sale on eBay for $10,000.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed the injuries to three officers during the attempt to apprehend the rapper.
“Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety,” he remarked, as reported by BBC News.
“Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be.”
His next court appearance is scheduled for September 15.
