Linkin Park enthusiasts believe band is poised for a comeback with renowned singer stepping in for Chester Bennington

Linkin Park enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation that the band might be gearing up for a comeback with a new lead vocalist following the tragic death of Chester Bennington in 2017.

Bennington, who achieved fame with Linkin Park in the early 2000s, was found deceased at his residence in Palos Verdes Estates, California in July 2017.

Throughout the years, Linkin Park amassed a substantial fanbase with seven studio albums under their belt. Songs like ‘In The End’ continue to be fan favorites.

Following Bennington’s passing, the band went on hiatus. However, on Saturday (August 24), Linkin Park’s official website featured a cryptic countdown timer starting at 100 hours.

The countdown is scheduled to reach zero on Wednesday (August 28), and fans are eagerly anticipating a significant announcement with many believing they already know what it entails.

Given that Linkin Park would require a new frontman for a revival, numerous fans theorize that the announcement might be about a successor to Bennington.

One hopeful fan commented: “I hope they announce the new singer, LP deserves to continue [with] their legacy.”

On social media, some have delved deeper into the speculation, discussing potential candidates for the new frontman role.

Shortly after Linkin Park’s countdown timer appeared, Sum 41 made a social media post urging fans to ‘tune in Wednesday morning’.

“Deryck Whibley announcement,” the post read, referencing Sum 41’s lead vocalist.

The timing of this post caught the attention of Linkin Park followers, leading many to believe Whibley might become the band’s new frontman.

One Twitter user speculated: “Rumor is the lead singer of Sum 41 is going to go on tour the new singer for LINKIN PARK.”

Another person tweeted: “Dude from Sum 41 gonna be Linkin Park’s new singer???”

As fans ponder the potential new lineup, opinions vary on Whibley joining the band.

One individual expressed their concern, saying: “He’s disbanded Sum 41 to join Linkin Park hasn’t he.”

Another voiced their doubts: “Hearing rumours of Sum41 front man Deryck Whibley joining Linkin Park. Ugh, I hope not. No hate to him, I just don’t think it’s the right fit. Honestly, I’d prefer if they just get a female singer instead, so no one can make Chester comparisons.”

Conversely, some fans are excited about the prospect, with one stating: “Honestly if Deryck is the new stand in vocalist for Linkin Park they have picked a great choice, he’s already proven he can sing a bunch of their songs and I have confidence he will smash it.”

With the countdown nearing its end, fans won’t have to wait much longer to uncover the truth.
