Lip reader reveals ‘tense’ interaction at Golden Globes between Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner

A lip reader has shared details of a reported ‘tense’ conversation between Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner at the Golden Globes.

The relationship between Chalamet and Jenner is one of the most discussed topics in Hollywood. Recently, they were spotted together at the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes, which took place on Sunday, January 11.

The Wonka star was honored with the Lead Actor in a Comedy or Musical award at the Golden Globes for his performance in the acclaimed film Marty Supreme.

“My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up,” Chalamet stated during his acceptance speech. “Always be grateful for what you have.

“It has allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here but I would be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this one that much sweeter.”

During his speech, Chalamet also expressed affection for his significant other, saying: “For my parents, for my partner, I love you, thank you so much.”

Although the night was filled with celebrations, an off-camera exchange between the couple prompted a lip reader to reveal what might have transpired.

Nicola Hickling explained to the Daily Mail that Chalamet allegedly initiated the conversation by leaning towards Jenner and saying, “You must hate me.”

Despite Jenner’s smile, she reportedly answered affirmatively, before Chalamet inquired if she was ‘worried’.

According to Hickling, Jenner responded with, “It was a bold yes,” which apparently caused Chalamet’s cheerful demeanor to diminish.

Chalamet supposedly remarked, “You look bothered.”

The discussion is said to have ended with Jenner telling Chalamet, “Not here. You’re annoying.”

Representatives for Chalamet and Jenner have been contacted for comment.

Earlier this month, Chalamet received the Best Actor award at the Critics Choice Awards, where he praised the Kylie Cosmetics founder during his speech.

He remarked: “Thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Recently, Chalamet and Jenner have emerged as a high-profile celebrity couple, though they have experienced a few awkward interactions. One such moment occurred at the 2025 BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament last March when Jenner leaned in for a kiss while Chalamet was focused on the match.
