A lip reader has shared insights into a conversation between Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos as they reunited after the return of Blue Origin’s all-female space flight.
On April 14, Sánchez participated in the spaceflight aboard Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket, joined by Katy Perry, Gayle King, activist Amanda Nguyen, rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.
The New Shepard rocket launched from Texas, and within 11 minutes, the crew was safely back on Earth.
Bezos, engaged to Sánchez, eagerly went to meet her after the rocket’s landing, even taking a fall in his rush to greet her. After his brief encounter with the ground, he was reunited with Sánchez as the crew exited the rocket.
The entire event was broadcast live, and lip reader Nicola Hickling has revealed the alleged exchanges between Sánchez, Bezos, and other crew members following their space journey.
On behalf of Prime Casino, Hickling explained that Sánchez quickly shifted her attention after landing.
She mentioned: “Lauren Sánchez leaves the shuttle, comes out and hugs Jeff Bezos. She looks emotional and then asked ‘Where are my babies?’”
Sánchez is the mother of three children from previous relationships: her eldest son Nikko, with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez, and her younger children, Evan and Ella, with former husband Patrick Whitesell.
Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin, then directed Sánchez where to go.
Hickling noted: “Jeff Bezos points to give some direction and then says, ‘you need to go over there’.”
As the remaining crew members exited the flight, Hickling provided more details, mentioning that Perry reportedly said ‘that was incredible’, and Bowe who cheered, exclaiming ‘oh yes!’.
“Amanda Nguyen screams, ‘hoorah’ before running off the screen,” Hickling added.
In post-flight interviews, Sánchez reflected on Earth appearing ‘so quiet’ from space. She described the experience as ‘profound’, expressing that it left her ‘humbled’ and with a strong desire to ‘protect this planet’.
On the topic of space travel becoming as accessible as traditional air travel, Sánchez said: “I know Jeff [Bezos] and I know Blue Origin.
“Blue Origin is building the road to space,” she added.
