Lip reader ‘uncovers’ Prince Andrew’s final public exchange with ‘angry’ Prince William

A lip reader has analyzed what Prince Andrew might have said to Prince William during his last public appearance before stepping back from his royal roles.

Prince Andrew announced last week that he would relinquish his titles amidst increasing pressure due to new allegations related to the late Virginia Giuffre.

In April 2025, Giuffre tragically took her own life in Australia at the age of 41. Before her passing, she published “Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice.”

Within the memoir, Giuffre reiterated her claims against Prince Andrew, alleging that in 2001, she was taken to dinner and a club with him and then coerced by Jeffrey Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell into having intimate relations with him.

Prince Andrew has consistently denied these accusations. Maxwell was found guilty of sex trafficking in 2021, and Epstein died in custody in 2019.

Andrew’s last prominent appearance included joining the Royal Family at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral on September 16.

A lip reader has interpreted a video clip showing Prince Andrew standing next to Prince William, who reportedly appeared uneasy.

Jeremy Freeman, a lip-reading expert, shared his insights with the Mirror regarding the footage that has circulated online.

Freeman noted, “We had a lovely time in those days, didn’t we… I remember those days.”

The video seemingly depicts Andrew trying to engage in conversation with William, smiling and laughing, while other senior members of the family appeared more reserved.

A Royal biographer also offered their perspective on the footage, suggesting that William was displeased with the exchange.

Lownie remarked, “He has been at pains to distance himself from his uncle and not be photographed with him.

“He feels his father has not been strict enough with Andrew, and that both Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have significantly damaged the reputation of the Royal Family through their actions.”

In a statement, Prince Andrew said: “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.

“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me.

“As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
