Davide Sanclimenti has broken his silence after his girlfriend was sentenced to prison.
The Love Island UK winner, 29, pledged his continued support for Iris Rabaya Au, 37, after she received an 18-month sentence for filing a false tax return. Au pleaded guilty in March 2025 and was handed the prison term following accusations she helped conceal millions in illicit cryptocurrency proceeds.
Au was accused of receiving more than $2.6 million linked to funds generated by her ex-boyfriend Adam Iza, a cryptocurrency businessman now serving a 15-year sentence. Prosecutors stated that between 2020 and 2023, she created shell corporations and opened bank accounts in their names to help move and hide the money.
Prosecutors said in court: “[Au] set up the financial infrastructure that enabled Adam Iza to move, spend, and conceal millions of dollars in fraud proceeds while she personally benefited from the wealth.”
The government also detailed how she deliberately misled authorities. “Au concealed entities and income from her tax preparer and filed returns reporting only a small fraction of what she had actually received,” prosecutors continued. “Those were affirmative acts designed to prevent the IRS from learning the true extent of her income.”
Iza has been in custody since 2024, serving time for an attempted Bitcoin robbery and kidnapping in Connecticut. He still faces additional sentencing on October 5 for conspiracy against rights, wire fraud and tax evasion charges.
Sanclimenti, who won ITV’s Love Island in 2022 alongside ex-partner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, went public with his relationship with Au in 2025. He previously described their romance to Mail Online as resembling a “Hollywood blockbuster.”
“Iris is an amazing person who has been through difficult situations that most people could never understand,” Sanclimenti told the outlet. He added that he would remain devoted throughout the proceedings: “There’s so much of this extraordinary story that people don’t know yet. I will be there by her side to supply her as she deserves all the support and understanding.”
Sanclimenti’s own romantic history has played out publicly. He and Cülcüloğlu split after 18 months together, with the Turkish actress announcing the breakup in a statement that read: “The last 18-months have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, just like every relationship. Davide and I both wanted to make this relationship work as we cared deeply for each other. Unfortunately, I have recently made the decision to end our relationship and to go our separate ways.”
She continued: “Breakups are never easy for any couple, and we hope that our privacy will be respected at this time. I enjoyed our time together and will cherish the memories we made.”
Cülcüloğlu has since weighed in on her ex’s current situation, telling reporters that “no one wants to be in prison” when asked about Au’s legal woes.
The $2.6 million in question moved through various accounts into Au’s personal bank accounts over a three-year period, with prosecutors alleging she acted at Iza’s direction throughout the scheme. The case marks one of the more dramatic off-camera chapters for a Love Island alum, blending reality television fame with federal financial crime.
Au must now surrender luxury assets accumulated during the period, including a Ferrari, a Porsche and 14 Louis Vuitton handbags.
