Mackenzie Shirilla’s prison records allegedly detail 23 violations behind bars

Prison records allege Mackenzie Shirilla has been written up for a series of disciplinary issues while serving her sentence.

Shirilla is incarcerated after a crash in Strongsville, Ohio, in which investigators said she drove about 100mph into a wall, killing her boyfriend Dominic Russo and their friend Davion Flanagan.

In 2023, she was found guilty of 12 felony counts, including murder, felonious assault and aggravated vehicular homicide.

She has consistently denied intending to harm anyone, saying she blacked out before the collision and did not mean to kill Russo and Flanagan.

The case was later revisited in Netflix’s The Crash, which featured interviews with Shirilla’s parents and sparked widespread discussion.

Now, a New York Post report citing a conduct log from inside the Ohio Reformatory for Women outlines multiple alleged infractions by the 20-year-old since entering custody.

Among the claims are that she hid nude photographs in her cell and exposed herself to a visitor during a video call.

Records describe an August 22, 2025 incident in which Shirilla was on what was described as an intimate call with a former prisoner she had been regularly communicating with.

The log states that she flashed her breast during the call, leading to video visitation being restricted for 60 days.

In a separate alleged episode, Shirilla was reportedly found in a sexual situation with another inmate, with the other prisoner said to have had his “hands in Shirilla’s pants in her buttocks region”.

Following that incident, she was placed into restrictive housing for a week, according to the report.

Records also cite further write-ups linked to altering her issued clothing and bringing in prohibited items, including a tie-dye bra.

One entry reportedly notes her wearing a hoodie that appeared to be “clearly taken in on the sides”, along with an unbuttoned prison shirt.

A female officer wrote that after Shirilla was escorted to the restroom, the inmate remarked that “if a prison guard ‘got a boner from the way I’m dressed, that’s his fault’.”

The same account adds: “The whole time we were in the restroom, she was very disrespectful and talked with a loud tone asking if this was all we were worried about was her altered jacket.”

Altogether, the records referenced in the report claim Shirilla has accumulated 23 violations during her time at the Ohio Reformatory for Women.
