Major airline advises against wearing jeans on flights, sparking mixed reactions

An airline has made an unusual request asking passengers to refrain from wearing jeans on its flights, sparking mixed reactions.

Let’s face it, flying isn’t always the most pleasant experience, unless you can indulge in the luxuries of business class.

The experience often includes pricey snacks that don’t quite hit the spot, seats that are far from comfortable, and the recycled air that leaves much to be desired. Then there’s the underlying anxiety about being 30,000 feet above the ground in a metal contraption that seems to defy gravity.

While the science of flight involving thrust and lift is well understood, it offers little solace when you’re suspended in the air, relying on complex engineering, fuel, and perhaps a few clouds.

Despite these discomforts, air travel allows us to reach distant destinations in a fraction of the time it would take by land, avoiding the perils of old-world travel – though the cost of a bottle of water and a sandwich can feel like highway robbery.

Recently, Ryanair, a low-cost airline known for its no-frills approach and spirited social media presence, has made an unexpected request.

In a TikTok video, Ryanair urged passengers not to wear jeans when flying.

The video stated, “It’s 2026, let’s stop travelling in jeans.”

Accompanying the video was a caption: “Please,” with an emoji of hands together in a plea.

This request puzzled many passengers, leading one to ask: “What is wrong with jeans please explain.”

Ryanair’s social media team responded succinctly: “What’s right with them?”

The video prompted a flood of comments from people sharing their thoughts on the unusual request.

One commenter quipped: “Ok I’ll fly in my 18th century historically accurate outfit.”

Another, referencing Ryanair’s reputation for additional fees, remarked: “Are you gonna charge for wearing jeans now?”

Someone else humorously added: “Whenever I take them off the flight attendants get mad at me.”

Interestingly, some passengers sided with Ryanair, agreeing that jeans might not be the most comfortable choice for air travel.

They commented: “Prolly the least comfortable thing to wear while flying.”

Opinions on wearing jeans during flights seem to be more varied than one might expect, with some finding it perfectly acceptable, while others cringe at the idea.
