A man from Florida found himself in legal trouble after a first date turned into a bizarre and dangerous incident. He was arrested for allegedly hitting his date with his car following her refusal to let him ‘sniff her feet’.
The alleged victim, a model who has chosen to remain anonymous, stated that 28-year-old Elmoncy Sercle had arranged their meeting through the dating app, Seeking.
The two met in person for the first time at the Serena Hotel in Aventura on August 24, according to an arrest affidavit shared by The New York Post.
In the hotel room, Sercle reportedly asked if he could buy the model’s used sneakers and also requested to smell her feet. The New York Post reported these details.
Speaking with Local 10, the model mentioned that she was open to selling her shoes but was uncomfortable with his request to smell her feet.
“I mean, you could have my sneakers all you want,” she stated. “And you know, they’re just stinky old sneakers. But people like weird things.”
The affidavit revealed that the woman agreed to sell her sneakers for $1,000, informing Sercle that she needed to retrieve them from her car. However, Sercle balked at the price.
When she visited the bathroom, Sercle reportedly fled the hotel room, leading the model to suspect theft, according to police documentation.
Upon reaching the parking lot, she claimed to have seen Sercle driving a red SUV, investigators noted.
Authorities reported that Sercle drove past his date before executing a three-point turn in the vehicle.
It was then that Sercle allegedly hit the model with the SUV, as detailed by the Post.
The woman reportedly suffered road rash and bruises on her arms and chest due to the incident.
Her injuries mandated immediate medical treatment, the outlet stated.
Reflecting on the event, the model mentioned, “By the grace of God, I’m still standing today.”
She characterized the episode as not only frightening but also ‘extremely bizarre,’ according to Local 10.
“I’ve never experienced anything like this before,” she remarked. “I’ve met a lot of people who have foot fetishes, obviously, and nobody has ever done anything to this caliber.”
The affidavit noted that Sercle fled after allegedly striking his date with the car.
Four days later, on August 28, police apprehended him when he attempted to book a room at the same hotel, as reported by PEOPLE.
Sercle is facing charges of aggravated battery related to the incident and has entered a plea of not guilty, online court records indicate.
A judge, during a bond court hearing, found probable cause for the charges, set a $3,000 bond, and instructed Sercle to keep away from the victim, as reported by NBC Miami.
