Man Discovers He’s ‘Living in the Apple Maps Icon’ After Checking His Location

If you haven’t had your morning coffee yet, you might want to get one before diving into this because a TikTok video is leaving people utterly baffled.

TikToker Sebastian, known on the platform as @sebastian_monsalvo, recently visited California and stayed in a Cupertino hotel.

Upon his arrival and checking Apple Maps, Sebastian noticed something strikingly familiar about the location.

Apple has rolled out numerous updates over the years, ranging from emojis to device sizes. However, one change made back in 2017 might have flown under your radar.

This change pertains to the Apple Maps logo. Previously, the icon depicted 1 Infinite Loop, the site of Apple’s longtime headquarters. This has since been altered.

The logo now features Apple Park, the company’s new corporate headquarters that opened seven years ago, as reported by The Verge at the time.

Earlier this month, Sebastian stayed at or near a Hilton Garden Inn, which is situated a short distance from the well-known Apple Park, just off Interstate 280.

The Apple Maps icon appears to show the highway interchange with N Wolfe Road, which is where Sebastian’s hotel seemed to be located.

As for the gray circle in the logo, it seems to represent a section of Apple Park’s vast, circular campus, paying homage to its HQ.

Given this context, the official icon is not perfectly to scale. Apple has seemingly adjusted the building’s proximity to the intersection to fit within the small logo.

Still following? Great.

Since the icon isn’t entirely to scale, Sebastian’s discovery is even more remarkable. He joked in his TikTok video, which has garnered 1.3 million views, that he was “staying in the Apple Maps logo.”

People have since expressed their astonishment at this newfound knowledge through Sebastian’s revelation.

“I’ve actually been in this hotel when I worked at Apple Park. Didn’t realize it’s the Maps icon,” one person commented.

Another added: “I STAYED THERE AND HAD NO IDEA!!!”

Sharing similar sentiments, a third person said: “The way I’ve stayed there so many times and never realized??”

Acknowledging the complexity of figuring this out, someone else referred to the video as a “massive brainrot.”

Addressing those who doubted his claim, Sebastian, a college student, asserted that he knows “literally everything” about Apple and has long been an avid fan of the tech giant.
