Man Posts Chilling Video of ‘Paranormal Activity’ in His Home, Seeks Help to Debunk It

A video capturing what is alleged to be ‘paranormal activity’ has sparked debate among viewers, with some suggesting it’s ‘worse than ghosts’.

Having spent a significant amount of time recovering from the fright of watching Paranormal Activity by sleeping downstairs with my dog, I certainly wouldn’t be comfortable in the sitting room or kitchen of this Reddit user’s home.

Reddit user u/Diligent_Lion1306 shared a clip on the thread r/Ghosts, which shows a kitchen light dimming down to darkness and then abruptly illuminating again.

The accompanying caption reads: “Please for the love of God debunk this. Started a few weeks ago here and there. Tonight was the most intense by far. After a while it just stopped. Hoping an electrician or similar can opine.”

The post quickly drew attention from social media users eager to share their thoughts.

One commenter dismissed any supernatural explanations, stating: “The fact that you’re just showing only that area and not your whole place lets me know that someone else is turning it off and on.”

“Ummm…someone is turning the lights on and off and you are trying to pass it off as a ghost? Am I warm?” another added in agreement.

Others proposed more mundane explanations.

“That’s worse than ghosts. could be a short,” one person suggested.

Another offered: “It could be worse than a ghost… Rats chewing on your wires.”

“I’d get an electrician in there before your ‘spooky electric flashing’ becomes a non-spooky fire,” a third advised.

Then, an individual claiming to be an electrician added a more chilling perspective.

An alleged electrician from Washington stated: “I’m an electrician in wa state. That ain’t no electrical issue!! Shorts don’t work that way. That’s a constant current being disconnected by a switch. Than said switch is activated. This is basic.

“You must know this apt/house is haunted as this can’t be the very first thing you noticed. I’m sure you have had other things pop off prior to this or get that weird feeling like someone’s watching you in random times.”

Some other electricians chimed in, suggesting the incident might be due to a ‘thermal protector built into the light’ reacting to temperature changes, or possibly a ‘loose connection.’

The original poster responded in the comments, expressing gratitude for the feedback and acknowledging that the strange occurrence is ‘likely electrical.’

“I shut off the relevant breaker and it stopped,” they mentioned. “A few updates in response to some comments: It’s not WiFi. The lights are turned on and off (by a person) by clicking on the relevant button. It makes a click. I’ll post again later and demonstrate but regardless I am contacting our electrician.

“Apologies if I posted incorrectly. I’m a Reddit posting noob.”

Noob. A fitting term.
