It seems like finding affordable Teslas has become quite the trend lately.
We’ve heard stories like the teenager who managed to refurbish two wrecked Teslas for his parents, saving them a significant amount of money.
Now, there’s a new player in the scene. Though he isn’t exactly new—he’s been sharing car videos on his YouTube channel, Samcrac, for over a decade.
When he was posting videos about his stylish 2006 Porsche Cayman S, I was still in high school, and Winston Pemberton, an 18-year-old recognized for his automotive savvy, was likely attending elementary school.
Sam is indeed experienced and skilled in buying and selling cars. He recently bought an older Tesla Model SP90D, manufactured before 2017, for just $10,100.
Why would someone sell a car for a fraction of its retail price? The previous owner believed the electric car was ‘dead,’ a conclusion many might have reached in the same situation.
If professional mechanics can’t repair it in a shop, what other options are there? Many would choose to sell it, taking what they can get.
However, Sam, who has nearly 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube, excels in understanding vehicle mechanics—especially electric ones.
The reason he snagged this deal was that he initially couldn’t even open the car… contrary to what I said earlier, it turns out you and I might just have been able to solve this problem.
The solution was surprisingly simple. It wasn’t as tedious as trying to dry out a wet phone in rice, which requires a lot of effort and time—all those supermarket trips and the task of filling a container with rice to absorb moisture from the car, which could take hours.
I bet a YouTuber will take on that challenge if it hasn’t already been done.
The solution was just a matter of double tapping the unlock button on the key. Honestly, in my frustration, I might have been pressing that button repeatedly without a second thought.

After gaining entry, the next step was to contact Tesla to officially connect the car to his account—all he needed was proof of ownership.
And just like that, the process was complete, bada-bing-bad-boom.
For just $10,100, he acquired an older model of the popular Tesla Model S.
Could he be the bargain hunter of the year?
