Man reveals ‘scary’ way thieves can break into your hotel room using a magnet leaving people stunned

A striking video that reveals how potential criminals might infiltrate your hotel room has sparked conversations online, with users suggesting that thieves are becoming increasingly inventive. When settling into a hotel, experts recommend a thorough check of your room which includes inspecting for bedbugs in soft furnishings and flushing the toilet as initial steps. After ensuring the door locks securely and acquainting yourself with the emergency exits, you’re set to unpack and relax. Despite this, it’s crucial to stay alert and secure valuable belongings that are not stored in the safe.

Unfortunately, as demonstrated in a video by a social media influencer known as ‘Ryan TricksTV’, even items left unsecured in your room are vulnerable. Last year, he posted a three-minute video on Facebook showing how simple tools like magnets, a piece of string, and a cable tie could be used to gain access to your room.

At the start of the video, Ryan reveals how a string with a cable tie at the end is slipped under the door and manipulated towards the door handle.

After several attempts, the individual outside manages to loop the cable tie around the handle, poised to open the door before being frightened off by Ryan. Upon opening the door, the would-be thief dashes down the hallway while Ryan showcases the magnet to the camera. He explains how the magnet was used to move the cable tie, which had another hidden magnet attached, to unveil the cunning method used.

The video has since garnered over 50 million views, sparking widespread discussion about the security hack.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, a user commented on the audacity of the thieves, while others on Facebook debated the realism and implications of the technique. Some viewers appreciated the ingenious nature of the hack, whereas others highlighted the importance of using additional security measures like door chains.

Travelers are advised to keep their valuables and essential documents securely locked and to always engage the door’s deadbolt and chain lock. Additionally, any suspicious activity or unfamiliar individuals loitering around should be reported to the hotel staff immediately to ensure safety.
