Terrill Lehman and Charles Webster disappeared without a trace over a decade ago, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
In December 2014, Lehman, aged 41, and Webster, aged 46, were reported missing by their families. Despite living with them, Scott Barnett was not initially suspected by the police.
This changed on Sunday, January 12, when Barnett, a resident of Maryland, approached a Baltimore police station seeking to discuss a murder case with detectives.
He confessed to his role in the murder and dismemberment of his former roommates, as confirmed by the city’s police department.
According to the police, Barnett, aged 45, admitted that he and his partner were involved in the crime, which took place at a residence on the 1600 block of Ralworth Road.
He reportedly disposed of their remains in multiple trash cans across the city, as per the police report.
The bodies of Lehman and Webster have never been located.
Barnett’s admission came after he disclosed that his partner had died in 2022.
Authorities allege that Barnett wrote incriminating messages on photographs of the victims, claiming responsibility for their deaths.
Barnett, who hails from Dundalk, a community in southeast Baltimore, informed the police that in November 2014, he and his partner resided in the basement of a house located northeast of the city.
He alleged that Webster and Lehman coerced him into giving them money and drugs in exchange for staying at the residence.
Barnett confessed to authorities that he stabbed the victims while they were under the influence of drugs, according to court documents.
He then allegedly wrapped their bodies in a shower curtain, moved them to the basement, and dismembered them, placing the remains in double bags.
Barnett purportedly disposed of the body parts in neighborhood bins, discarded the tools used, and cleaned the crime scene.
He was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility by detectives, where he faces charges of first and second-degree murder. He is currently held without bond and has waived his right to legal representation, according to court records.
Barnett has appeared in court on multiple occasions, most recently in 2023 when he pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and received a three-year prison sentence.
