A man who had been missing for two years was discovered after accidentally featuring in a TikTok video.
Diego Londoño, a 41-year-old philosopher and musician, had lost contact with his concerned family while in Peru.
After an extended search, an influencer found out about his potential location and decided to assist.
Amy Solano, an Ecuadorian entrepreneur, made the decision to travel to Chiclayo in pursuit of Diego and quickly identified a promising area to investigate.
Solano chose Chiclayo as her destination following reports of him being seen in the nearby city of Màncora.
Although her initial day of searching was unsuccessful, she managed to capture him on camera on September 25. She shared the video on TikTok while discussing her search efforts.
Due to Solano’s efforts, Londoño was found and placed in the custody of the Peruvian National Police (PNP).
His family received the reassuring news that he was safe and had been located.
According to VT, Londoño plans to travel from Chiclayo to Lima in Peru.
He is then expected to reunite with his family in Colombia.
Nevertheless, local reports suggest he may choose to delay his return, describing him as a voluntary nomad.
The National Police allegedly informed RPP that Londoño has no intention of leaving to visit his family and does not wish to return to Colombia.
“He himself said that he does not want to return to his country,” they reportedly stated.
The National Police of Peru also confirmed that he was neither in danger nor abandoned.
A police station noted that he had been sheltered for a night and day, where he received assistance with food, clothing, and the opportunity to contact his family.
The outlet mentioned that he successfully communicated by phone with his sisters, Olga, Martha, and Lucía, who expressed their support for his decision to remain away from Colombia for now.
According to authorities, “There is no complaint of disappearance. He spoke with his sisters and made it clear that he does not want to return to Colombia.”
They reportedly added that he declined a psychological evaluation, but showed no signs of health issues during his stay at the station.
Officers noted, “He is a polyglot man who moves through different cities of the country, subsisting on the sale of handicrafts in bronze and copper,” according to translations.
As he plans to travel to Lima, authorities suggested he visit police stations periodically to update his family, preventing unnecessary fears or concerns over his whereabouts.
Éxito Noticias interviewed Londoño in the national territory, where he shared his future intentions.
“It’s difficult for me to explain that I’m not like other people, but my family is there. […] From here to Lima and from there back to Colombia. I need to work a little, I almost never have plans,” he stated.
