Married at First Sight UK Star Arrested on Suspicion of Rape

Warning: This article contains discussion of rape which some readers may find distressing.

A cast member from Married at First Sight UK who has not been publicly identified has been arrested on suspicion of rape following allegations that surfaced during an investigation earlier this year.

The allegations were first reported in May, when two women from the programme accused male cast members of rape. A third woman also alleged that she was subjected to a non-consensual sexual act.

Those accused have denied the claims made against them. According to subsequent reporting, police have since arrested one person connected to the show on suspicion of rape, but the suspect has not been named publicly.

Channel 4 later removed all previous series of Married at First Sight UK from its platforms and commissioned an external review into contributor welfare, amid growing concern over safeguarding on the show.

The allegations prompted calls for potential victims to come forward, and politicians described the claims as extremely serious. The broadcaster has said it is deeply sorry for the distress caused.
