Imagine eagerly waiting for the next Marvel blockbuster, only to have the surprise potentially ruined by… McDonald’s? Yes, you heard right! Marvel fans are buzzing because it seems McDonald’s might have let a major “Captain America: Brave New World” spoiler slip through their promotional toys.
Marvel is legendary for its vault-like secrecy around movie plots. Remember when they handed Tom Holland fake scripts to keep “Avengers: Infinity War” under wraps? That’s commitment!
When the trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World” premiered on July 12, it ended with a jaw-dropping reveal of a character never seen before in the MCU films.
In this new chapter, we follow Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie), who has taken up the Captain America shield after Steve Roger’s retirement. This time, Sam faces a global threat following an international incident.
Enter the Red Hulk. Known in the comics as Thaddeus Ross, he’s making his MCU debut, and from the trailer, it looks like he’s going all out, embedding Captain America’s shield into the ground.
Previously portrayed by William Hurt, General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross will now be brought to life by Harrison Ford, following Hurt’s passing in 2022.
So, how did McDonald’s fit into this spoiler saga?
In April, a McDonald’s ad in Brazil unveiled some plush collector toys linked to the movie. Among these toys was none other than the Red Hulk himself.
Despite the big reveal through the toys, it seems many Marvel enthusiasts either missed the memo or chose to keep the secret under wraps, because the comment section of the trailer release was filled with fans freaking out over the Red Hulk’s appearance.
“RED HULK HOLY S***,” exclaimed a shocked YouTube user, clearly amazed by the reveal.
“Seeing a glimpse of Red Hulk got me excited. I just can’t wait to think what Tim Blake Nelson will look like as the leader,” another fan speculated about the casting choices and character developments.
“Sam is definitely getting the super soldier serum ain’t no way he’s beating the red hulk without it wonder who he’s gonna team up with too,” another viewer pondered the possibilities of how Sam will face such a formidable foe.
“Man I’ve never been so hyped for a Captain America movie more than the other 2 Captain America movies I can’t wait to see this movie And Harrison Ford’s the big red menace,” yet another fan shared their excitement.
While it would have been spectacular if this detail had been kept under wraps until the film’s release, the trailer does stir up quite the excitement.
“Captain America: A Brave New World” is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Get ready to see how Sam Wilson handles his toughest challenge yet!
