The death of Renee Good, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, has been officially classified as a homicide.
Good, a mother of three, was killed on January 7 by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. The Trump administration labeled her a ‘domestic terrorist,’ claiming she was attempting to kill the agent, identified as Jonathan Ross.
However, footage released later appeared to contradict this account, showing Good seemingly trying to flee the scene when Ross fired three shots at her.
According to a Fire Department report obtained by the Minnesota Star Tribune, she was struck in the chest, arm, and head.
Emergency services were called multiple times to respond to the incident. Good was found unresponsive in her vehicle with blood on her face and torso around 9:42 a.m. that morning.
Despite efforts from medics, she unfortunately passed away shortly thereafter.

After the medical examiner’s homicide ruling, Anthony Romanucci, an attorney representing Good’s family, stated: “We are aware of the release of basic information by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner acknowledging the death of Renee Good as a Homicide.”
“We are still waiting for their full report and hope that they communicate with Renee’s family and share their report before releasing any further information to the public.”
This shooting has drawn significant public attention both within the United States and internationally. It has occurred amidst growing concerns over ICE raids conducted nationwide as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to crack down on ‘illegal immigrants.’
Federal officials have repeatedly dismissed requests from local law enforcement to engage in the investigation, maintaining their stance that Good was a ‘domestic terrorist’ who attempted to ‘weaponize’ her vehicle against ICE Officer Ross.

This version of events is contested by Good’s family, including her partner Becca, who witnessed the shooting, as well as by local authorities.
A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed that Ross was hospitalized that day for internal bleeding in his torso but declined to provide additional details about the situation.
Ross, who discharged his firearm, has not been charged with a crime. Vice President JD Vance previously mentioned he would have ‘absolute immunity’ from prosecution, though critics have argued that the use of deadly force might not have been necessary.
The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
