Medical examiner reveals new information on decomposing body discovered in US singer’s abandoned Tesla trunk

New information has emerged from the Los Angeles medical examiner regarding the decomposing body discovered in the trunk of an abandoned Tesla.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) was notified of a strong odor emanating from a black Tesla located at an impound lot in Hollywood on Monday, September 8.

The vehicle had reportedly been at the lot for several days before officers uncovered a body inside a plastic bag in the car’s front trunk.

Although the victim’s identity remains undisclosed, reports indicate the Tesla is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to David Anthony Burke, also known as the musician d4vd. He is recognized for hits like ‘Romantic Homicide’ and ‘Here With Me,’ both of which have surpassed a billion streams on Spotify, where he enjoys over 33 million monthly listeners.

Despite this connection, the artist has not been identified as a person of interest.

The LAPD provided a statement to LADbible Group: “On 9/8/25 around 12:20 pm, officers responded to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue for a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard.

“Detectives responded and located possible human remains. It is currently a death investigation. We do not have information on the owner of the vehicle.”

Additional details about the victim were disclosed on Wednesday. The remains have been identified as belonging to a woman who was dressed in a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings; her identity is still not confirmed.

She had a distinctive tattoo on her right index finger that read ‘shhh’.

The medical examiner stated: “The decedent was found severely decomposed inside a vehicle on 9/8/2025.

“She appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found. We are unable to determine her age or race/ethnicity. The decedent was wearing a tube top and black leggings (size small).

“She has wavy black hair. Jewelry includes yellow metal stud earrings and a yellow metal chain bracelet.”

A representative for the artist d4vd, who is currently touring in the US with scheduled performances in Europe the following month, issued a statement to NBC News indicating that he ‘has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities’.
