Kelly McKee Zajfen has offered an intimate look at Meghan Markle’s new chapter across the Atlantic.
Zajfen, a longtime friend of the Duchess of Sussex, posted a carousel of photos and clips to Instagram on Wednesday documenting her late-summer visit with her infant son Jack. The upload captured quiet moments inside the Sussexes’ freshly restarted UK life, from pub outings to lazy afternoons playing mahjong among lush greenery.
In one still, Markle, 45, cradled baby Jack at a wooden table in a rustic-style setting. Another showed Prince Harry, 42, sprawled on a carpeted floor playing with the infant. Markle and Zajfen appeared giggling over a mahjong board at an outdoor table in one snap, while Princess Lilibet, 5, was seen interacting with Zajfen on a couch in another. A single daisy in a field of bright flowers also made the cut, alongside a sun-drenched shot of Zajfen lifting Jack in a room with floor-to-ceiling windows.
“Having the best time. 🤍” Zajfen captioned the post.
“There’s something so special about getting a taste of this magical place with my bestie, and having my sweet Jack along for the adventure,” she wrote. Zajfen added that she “loved seeing this sweet chapter through” Markle’s eyes and reflected on their “daily adventures.”
“Family time is just what the heart ordered,” she continued. “With a side of mashed peas and fish n chips! All of it has filled my heart.”
Zajfen noted she was departing “with full hearts and definitely leaving a piece of ours here. 🤍” She thanked those she’d “met or bumped into” alongside the Duchess for “being so loving to” her friend.
“It’s been beautiful to witness,” she wrote. “She missed you too! Cheerio!”
The comments section filled quickly with warm responses from Markle’s supporters. “Glad to see Meghan surrounded by people who love her,” one person wrote, adding in part, “Please tell Meghan we love her and many of us out here are praying for her.” Another remarked, “I love the community and family you guys have built,” while a third chimed in, “We are so happy to see her and H back home ❤️”
The visit arrives just weeks after Markle and Harry abruptly exited their Santa Barbara, California estate with a plan to re-establish themselves in Harry’s home country and deepen their children’s ties to his family. Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet had initially been enrolled in a local prep school, but travel logistics forced a switch after only two days. The children were subsequently moved to a new UK school where parents have reportedly been warned to be cautious about photographing other students.
The Sussexes famously departed the UK in 2020 following Archie’s birth, stepping back as working royals and building a life in Southern California. Their return comes after Netflix declined to renew its lucrative production deal with the couple.
The “With Love, Meghan” host was spotted in the UK for the first time since the move earlier this month, mingling with another high-profile American transplant in a public appearance that fueled further speculation about how the family is settling in. Harry has also returned to the US at least once for a New York City event, where he was reportedly forced to halt an AI-related speech.
Markle turned 45 during the tumultuous transition, posting a birthday tribute that gushed over her husband amid the upheaval.
The couple’s 2020 exit from royal duties followed months of tension over their role within the family, culminating in a permanent split from full-time royal life and a relocation to Montecito. Their subsequent Netflix and Spotify ventures brought commercial success but also intense scrutiny, setting the stage for their current attempt at a UK-based reset.
Harry is expected to appear at a New York City summit this week.
