Meghan Trainor Speaks Out Again on ‘Toxic’ Mom Group Drama, Asserts Her ‘Innocence’

Meghan Trainor has again addressed the contentious mom group saga highlighted by Ashley Tisdale in a revealing piece for The Cut.

On January 12, Trainor, 32, posted a TikTok video where she lip-synced a scene from Stranger Things season 5. The scene features Holly Wheeler trying to persuade her friends that Mr.Whatsit was, in fact, a monster.

“Come on you have to believe me! Please, you have to believe me, you have to believe me,” the audio plays.

“Me still trying to convince everyone I’m not involved in the mom group drama,” read the text on Trainor’s video. In the caption, she emphasized, “I swear I’m innocent.”

The situation began earlier this month when High School Musical star Tisdale sparked conversation online after releasing an essay for The Cut titled ‘Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group.’ In this article, she detailed her experience of being ‘frozen out’ from a group of mothers she considered friends.

Published on January 1, Tisdale’s essay reveals that she, a mother of two, observed that the mom group she was part of began excluding her from activities.

“I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me,” Tisdale explained.

“At first, I tried not to take things personally. It’s not like people aren’t allowed to get together without me — and maybe there were perfectly good reasons that I hadn’t been invited. We were all busy, life was hectic. I told myself it was all in my head and it wasn’t a big deal,” she added.

Although Tisdale didn’t name the moms involved, online detectives speculated that the group might include Hilary Duff, Meghan Trainor, and Mandy Moore.

Tisdale’s representatives, however, refuted these assumptions, clarifying that ‘there’s zero truth to what online “detectives” think they’ve cracked’ and her piece actually referred to a ‘completely different group of friends’.

I swear i’m innocent 🙏

Despite reportedly not being involved with the group, Trainor has not refrained from commenting on the matter. Her initial reaction was last week when she posted a TikTok video appearing to search online with the caption: “Me finding out about the apparent mom group drama.”

Her new song ‘Still Don’t Care’ played in the background of the TikTok, which has amassed over 2,000,000 views.

Furthermore, Hilary Duff’s husband weighed in on the debated essay, subtly criticizing Tisdale for her revelations.

Matthew Koma, Duff’s 38-year-old husband, shared a photoshopped image on Instagram of himself atop The Cut’s feature image of Tisdale.

He wrote over the image: “A Mom Group Tell All Through A Father’s Eyes.

“When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.”

He concluded the satire with the caption: “Read my interview with @thecut.”
