Megyn Kelly Defends Sharp as a Tack Martha Stewart After Brutal Meghan Markle Dig

Megyn Kelly defended Martha Stewart’s credibility after the lifestyle mogul’s remarks about Meghan Markle sparked a war of competing accounts.

On her SiriusXM show Tuesday, Kelly, 55, made clear she believes Stewart’s version of a California dinner party where the 85-year-old claimed Markle, 45, had been gossiping about her recent reunion with King Charles, 77. Kelly dismissed the possibility that Stewart, despite her age, had misunderstood or misheard anything at the event.

“Martha doesn’t spew s–t,” Kelly said on the program. “She gives it straight.”

Kelly emphasized Stewart’s mental acuity to bolster her case. The homemaking icon is “sharp as a tack,” Kelly noted, and therefore wouldn’t have fabricated or distorted what she witnessed.

Stewart first shared her account in a People magazine cover story published last week. “I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California, and she had just gotten back from the palace,” Stewart told the outlet. “I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it.”

The “palace” reference pointed to Markle and Prince Harry’s rare family reunion with Charles and Queen Camilla on July 10 at Highgrove House, the monarch’s countryside estate. It marked the first time the king had seen his California-based grandchildren, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, in person since 2022.

However, the dinner party host swiftly pushed back. In an exclusive statement to Page Six, the host declared, “I sat next to Meghan at the dinner party and this account of what happened is simply untrue. Meghan didn’t talk about her European vacation other than to say the family had a great time.”

The host added that Markle “has always been a fan of Martha’s and enjoyed getting to meet her briefly at the dinner.”

Kelly theorized that Markle’s team had orchestrated the host’s statement to protect her image. “Meghan can’t have anything written about her without filing a lawsuit, threatening a lawsuit, having her people call,” Kelly said, noting that Stewart had only “said something innocuous about Markle” in the interview.

Kelly’s guest, New York Post columnist Maureen Callahan, echoed the defense of Stewart and delivered her own harsh assessment of Markle. “I completely believe Martha Stewart’s version of events,” Callahan said, calling the former Suits star a “ghoul” and “child.”

Callahan also attacked Markle for her estrangement from her father, Thomas Markle, who underwent leg amputation surgery in the Philippines earlier this year. Kelly piled on with a pointed comparison: “She’s not gonna go see anybody’s father unless he has a crown on his head,” she said of Markle. “That’s the father she’s willing to spend time with.”

Despite the harsh commentary, Kelly predicted an eventual full reconciliation between Charles and the Sussexes. “I think the King is gonna allow it. I think he’s gonna let him back in,” Kelly said. “He’s a dad before he’s a king.”

In the viral moment that started the feud, Stewart’s People interview contained additional shade beyond the dinner party claims. When asked about Markle’s Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, Stewart delivered a blunt career assessment: “If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show. It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.” The series was canceled after two seasons, and Netflix ended its partnership with Markle’s As Ever brand earlier this year.

Stewart had previously questioned Markle’s credentials in the lifestyle space. In a July 2025 interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, she said of Markle, “I hope she knows what she’s talking about. Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.”

Kelly’s show airs weekdays on SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Channel.
