Lethal Weapon actor Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross have announced that they parted ways a year ago, maintaining privacy until now.
Gibson, aged 69, and Ross, aged 35, began their relationship after being introduced by mutual friends in 2014. The couple welcomed a son, Lars, three years later, marking Gibson’s ninth child and Ross’ first.
The two continue to co-parent their eight-year-old son Lars, but confirmed to People on December 30 that they are no longer romantically involved.
In their joint statement, they expressed: “Although it’s sad to end this chapter in our lives, we are blessed with a beautiful son and will continue to be the best parents possible.”
The specifics of their breakup or reasons behind it remain undisclosed.
Gibson, who is 34 years senior to Ross, discussed their significant age difference with The Mirror in 2016. At that time, he was 60 and she was 26.

“Regarding age and relationships, it’s just a number,” he stated.
“She is an adult, and we dig each other. It might cause a problem, and one has a trepidation about these things, but it’s working out great. She is a really special person.”
Ross has pursued a career as a screenwriter and film director. In 2022, she directed Gibson in the leading role of her film Father Stu, which she also wrote.
The movie included performances by Mark Wahlberg, Jacki Weaver, and Teresa Ruiz.
The announcement of their separation follows the loss of their Malibu home earlier this year due to wildfires that swept through the Los Angeles area while Gibson was away for work.
Fortunately, both his family and the animals on the property were evacuated safely.

In a statement to NewsNation on January 9, Gibson remarked: “The good news is that those in my family and those I love are all well, and we’re all happy and healthy and out of harm’s way, that’s all I can care about, really.”
Before his involvement with Ross, Gibson was married to Robyn Denise Moore for 26 years, during which they had seven children: Hannah, Christian, Edward, William, Louis, Milo, and Thomas, before separating in 2006.
He became a father again in 2009 with the birth of his daughter, Lucia, with Russian singer-songwriter Oksana Grigorieva, whom he dated from 2007 to 2010.
