Michael Bolton’s daughters provide health update following challenging year with brain cancer

Michael Bolton’s three daughters have provided an update on the singer’s health as he continues to battle brain cancer.

The 72-year-old artist was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2023 and successfully underwent surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor in December of that year.

Although his short-term memory, speech, and mobility were temporarily affected, he is now in a ‘monitoring’ phase to ensure the disease does not return.

According to the American Brain Tumor Association, glioblastoma is the most aggressive and prevalent form of brain cancer, impacting over 12,000 individuals in the United States each year.

Bolton required another brain surgery last January due to an infection.

He completed his radiation and chemotherapy treatment in October, as reported by Fox News.

He now undergoes regular MRI scans to watch for any signs of recurrence.

The Grammy winner received his diagnosis after experiencing a ‘super weird’ symptom initially attributed to lack of sleep.

Now, two years after his first surgery, his daughters Isa (50), Holly (48), and Taryn (46) have shared encouraging news.

In an interview with AARP, Isa expressed: “We’re proud and happy to update anyone who has been interested in following [our Dad’s] journey that he is in very good spirits and very good health.

“He has a lot of challenges, and we do have great days and some tough days, but in general, he’s very strong. His mobility and cognition have been terrific. So, we’re in a really good place right now.”

The ‘When a Man Loves a Woman’ singer also shared some reflective thoughts with his fans.

In the same AARP article, Bolton conveyed via e-mail that he was feeling ‘deeply grateful’.

He added: “This past year has tested me in ways I never imagined, but it’s also made me more aware of the moments that fill life with meaning: having meals with my family, hearing my grandkids laugh, stepping outside on a beautiful day and just taking it in.”

Regarding his daughters, who serve as his primary caretakers, Bolton stated: “It means more than I could ever put into words. My daughters have been constant in a way that grounds me… They remind me of who I am and what’s worth fighting for.”

Bolton also expressed gratitude to his fans, thanking them ‘from the bottom of my heart’.

“Your messages, prayers, kindness … they’ve reached me in moments when I needed them most,” he wrote.

“It’s amazing how a few words from someone you’ve never met can lift your spirit and steady your steps.”

He concluded: “It reminds me that we’re all connected, and none of us walk through life’s challenges alone.”
