Michael Douglas left everyone on “The View” absolutely gobsmacked during his latest visit.
The Hollywood icon, famous for films like “Basic Instinct,” was in the middle of a casual chat about his longtime love, Catherine Zeta-Jones, when he decided to drop some juicy tidbits about their private life.
While many celebs shy away from dishing on their personal affairs, Douglas went all in, revealing some spicy details about their two-decade-long marriage.
The couple, who first got engaged in 1999 and made it official in 2000, have been through their fair share of ups and downs, including a brief separation in 2013. However, they’ve stayed strong, navigating through life’s challenges together.
According to Douglas, he and Zeta-Jones have found a rather unique way to keep the spark alive after 24 years of marriage, which he was more than happy to share with the audience.
On “The View,” he disclosed that they often hit the golf course together, where their friendly competition takes an interesting turn involving playful penalties for the loser.
During the show, panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin probed Douglas about these “forfeits” and what exactly happens when he doesn’t win at golf against his wife.
The room burst into laughter when Douglas cheekily responded, revealing the somewhat risqué nature of their game penalties.
He said, “Whip it out. She says, ‘You’ve gotta whip it out’, ‘Drop the trou and whip it out.'”
Obviously, he wasn’t talking about using a golf club here!
After the laughter subsided, Douglas continued to discuss how they keep their relationship vibrant and fun.
A still amused Alyssa commented, “That’s the secret to a marriage.”
Douglas then added a humorous note about adjusting their game as he ages, saying, “I’m going to be 80 in September, so now I play off of ladies tees, too, so I don’t have to do that anymore.”</â>
Reflecting on their relationship, Douglas has often spoken about the effort required to keep love alive over the years.
He said: “True love takes work. Love is an extraordinary feeling that comes from the bottom of your soul, but has to be nurtured, you know.
“The thing I’ve learned about getting older is you can’t take love for granted. You protect it, nurture it, and it grows, and after one’s initial, physical, emotional aspects, it becomes deeper.”
Since tying the knot, the duo has expanded their family, welcoming son Dylan, 23, and daughter Carys, 19. Douglas also has another son, Cameron, 45, from his previous marriage.
