Mickey Rourke criticizes ‘harsh’ $100K GoFundMe for eviction prevention and advises fans to take action

Mickey Rourke has once more criticized the GoFundMe set up on his behalf and advised donors on the actions they should take.

Last December, a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe was initiated for the actor-turned-boxer amid reports that he was facing eviction from his residence.

Rourke, according to his landlord, has an outstanding rent amount of nearly $60,000 and was given a three-day notice to settle the payment or leave the premises.

The fundraiser managed to gather about $100,000 quickly, reportedly organized by Rourke’s manager, Kimberley Hines.

However, upon learning about the now-removed fundraiser, Rourke expressed his disapproval of the initiative.

In an Instagram video, he stated: “Something’s come up that… I’m really frustrated, confused, and I don’t understand… Somebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me, to donate money, like charity. And that’s not me, OK?

“If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f**king charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my a and pull the trigger.”

He continued: “This thing is very embarrassing… Don’t give any money, and if you gave money, get it back. It’s really humiliating. They say it’s up to $100,000. I wouldn’t take a f**king nickel of charity from anybody.”

His manager later clarified that Rourke was informed about the fundraiser and assured that it wasn’t a ‘scam’, with all the funds intended for the actor.

Following this, Rourke reiterated his stance and urged donors to take action to retrieve their contributions.

In an Instagram post on Friday (January 16), he stated: “I am so upset and embarrassed about [the] scam to raise money for me, which was, as I’ve stated, a cruel embarrassment.”

“Over 100 thousand dollars were raised by concerned strangers and others. My attorney is doing everything in his power to make sure anyone who gave their hard earned money is quickly returned.

“Truthfully there is still over 90 thousand dollars that still needs to be refunded to concerned parties that sent their money.

“Please people get your money the person who pulled this crap shouldn’t get on f****** dollar.

“All I am concerned with at this moment is the health and well-being of my friend actor Eric Dane, please shoot Eric some ‘strong prayers’ please.”
