Miley Cyrus has made a significant revelation about her father’s actions during her time as a child actress on the set of Hannah Montana.
The dynamics between Miley and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, have been a topic of much interest recently.
The conversation began when Billy Ray Cyrus delivered an unusual performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
Following this, his adopted son, Trace Cyrus, wrote an open letter to his father, expressing concerns about the ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ singer.
Trace later alleged that Billy Ray responded by threatening legal action over the Instagram post.
However, Miley, known for her hit “Flowers,” addressed the situation after fans noticed her mother, Tish Cyrus, seemed to have unfollowed her on Instagram.
Speculation arose that Tish might have distanced herself from Miley following the star’s reunion with her father.
Miley clarified the situation on Instagram, stating, “I rarely comment on rumors but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us. She’s my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me – simple, coincidental and uninteresting. My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”
Following this, Miley opened up on her mother’s podcast about her father’s behavior on the set when she was younger.
The 32-year-old joined her mother Tish and sister Brandi on the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast on Thursday, June 19.
During a rapid-fire question segment, Tish asked, “What’s a core memory from the Hannah Montana days that still makes you laugh?”
Miley responded candidly, recalling: “Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it.”
Tish found the comment amusing, though her sister gave a knowing look as Miley confirmed, “I do remember that.”
This incident reportedly occurred during the filming of the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, which aired from 2006 to 2011.
While Miley found the memory amusing, Tish had a different perspective.
Tish recounted being informed of Billy Ray’s pot smoking but was skeptical at the time of their marriage.
“I was saying, ‘Absolutely not, he would never do that,’” Tish remarked.
Initially, Tish blamed Miley’s co-star Mitchel Musso, who portrayed Oliver Oken, before Miley clarified that both her father and Musso were involved.
In response to these claims, Musso told E! News, “Well, that’s not how I remember it. However, I’ve got plenty of stories from those years that might be worth having a conversation about. If we’re revisiting Hannah Montana history – just say the word. All love to Miley and the fam, even when the rewrites get this creative.”
