Millie Bobby Brown, 21, explains why she ‘won’t’ pay for Netflix and continues using her parents’ account

Millie Bobby Brown has explained why she chooses not to pay for her own Netflix account despite earning millions as a young actress.

Having been a central figure in the highly successful series Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown and her co-stars have become household names, reaping significant financial rewards in the process.

The substantial salaries they command can be attributed to the immense popularity of the Netflix series, which has allowed fans to watch these child actors mature into seasoned performers.

While many cast members have explored roles in various films and TV shows, Brown has notably led several Netflix-specific projects.

She has starred in the popular film Enola Holmes and its sequel, as well as Damsel and most recently The Electric State, where she shared the screen with Chris Pratt.

During a promotional event for the film earlier this year, Brown was questioned about whether her extensive involvement in Netflix projects entitled her to a complimentary subscription from the streaming platform. Her response was unexpected.

In an interview with Capital FM, she stated: “I’m still using my parents’ account.

“I kind of refuse to pay for the subscription because my parents pay, and I’m still a child, in my eyes, and in their eyes. So yeah, I’m part of the family deal.”

This declaration from Brown has resurfaced online, surprising many of her fans. The astonishment largely stems from previously circulated reports indicating that Brown has been a millionaire for several years, making it feasible for her to afford her own subscription.

For her work on Stranger Things, following a salary renegotiation before the third season, Brown reportedly earned $250,000 per episode.

According to Cosmopolitan, this amount increased to $300,000 for the series’ fourth and fifth seasons.

In addition to her earnings from modeling and other film projects, Brown’s financial success is evident, with her net worth estimated at around $20 million.

Although Brown hasn’t faced criticism for her remarks, some X users expressed surprise that Netflix doesn’t automatically provide its stars with complementary subscriptions.

One user on X commented: “Netflix makes their actors pay for subscriptions?! THE GREED.”

Another added: “Dang L doesn’t even get a Netflix subscription? They really hate password sharing.”

A third noted: “Netflix really said ‘family plan’ and Millie said bet, even with millions in the bank.”

Another user remarked: “Netflix won’t even comp her a free account after making them billions? The greed jumps out.”
