Million Dollar Nannies’ Leah Reveals the Truth Behind ‘Giving Up Her Life’ for the Job

Leah Barrs may have only just entered the spotlight thanks to Million Dollar Nannies, but the 31-year-old has spent years building a reputation among wealthy households, including work she says has taken her into the world of high-profile celebrity childcare.

She has worked as a nanny for high-profile families for a long time, although strict non-disclosure agreements mean the identities of most of her former employers remain private. In recent interviews, Leah has said that one of the families she worked for was connected to the Kardashians, adding to the speculation surrounding her career.

Drawing on that experience, Leah headed to Ibiza last summer with a team of nannies she assembled herself, launching an agency designed to offer childcare support to families holidaying on the island.

She was also taking on nannying duties herself, having been hired by Camila Guiribitey, along with her close friend Sydney Siegel, to care for Guiribitey’s daughters.

That role came with its own challenges, as Leah and Sydney had to follow a string of unusual expectations during their time with the Guiribitey family, including dressing to reflect the family’s “daily aura”.

They were not the only employers with highly tailored demands, either, as several of the families featured in the series had very particular ideas about how they wanted childcare handled.

While some people assume nannying is a straightforward job, Million Dollar Nannies makes clear that the role can be far more intense and demanding than many expect, something Leah knows from firsthand experience.

The series follows a group of young, ambitious nannies as they try to build a luxury childcare business in Ibiza, navigating blurred boundaries, high-pressure expectations and the peculiarities of serving ultra-wealthy families.

Leah has spoken about the sacrifices that came with caring for children in high-profile households, while also pushing back on the idea that nannying is somehow “not a real job”.

Leah said that in one household she believed she was the “highest paid employee at the house”, and added that she earned more than some of her friends who went to college. Even so, the money came at a personal cost.

“I was pretty much giving up my life to work for these families, and they have such a busy life, and yes, they’re around, but they need the support with their busy schedules,” Leah told us.

“So being on set with them, being at these interviews with them, and just so that they can have their kids around, so I really did give up a lot of my 20s to work for these families.”

With that in mind, Leah said the pay she received was “well deserved”.

Leah went on: “It was hard, and I had to give up a lot. I had to give up, you know, birthdays and time with my friends. They would just go out to lunch, I’m like, ‘I can’t make it on the day’.

“Then, when I finally had a day off, I had to catch up on my laundry and other things, or sometimes we’d be traveling for months at a time.”

After one especially demanding stint, Leah said she felt disconnected from her own identity and needed a few months to rebuild a normal routine for herself.

She admitted: “I kind of left lost. I was like, ‘who am I?'”

Million Dollar Nannies is now streaming on Freeform and Hulu, with the series premiere airing on June 17, 2026, and the full season rolling out on Hulu from June 18.
