‘Mind-blowing’ Amazon Prime Video drama captivates even Stephen King

Stephen King is a name synonymous with exceptional TV and film.

Many iconic horror films have been adapted from King’s chilling novels, contributing to the genre’s most memorable works.

His creations, like IT, Pet Sematary, Carrie, and The Shining, have left a lasting impact on horror literature and cinema.

However, not all of King’s adaptations fall under the horror category. For instance, The Green Mile, which might surprise some, is based on his 1996 novel.

Given King’s extensive background, it’s wise to take his recommendations to heart when he praises a TV show.

One such series that has received his admiration is available on Prime Video, with all four seasons waiting to be streamed.

The series, The Man in the High Castle, which premiered in 2015, has been lauded as ‘just wonderful’ by King.

Adapted from Phillip K. Dick’s novel, the series delves into an alternate universe where the Axis Powers triumphed in WWII, leading Japan and Germany to govern the US.

Adding to its intrigue, the show features actors such as Pretty Little Liar’s Luke Kleintank and The Diplomat’s Rufus Sewell, and is executively produced by Ridley Scott, known for Blade Runner and Alien.

In 2018, King expressed his admiration for the series on Twitter, saying, “THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE (Amazon Prime) is just wonderful.

NETFLIX VIEWERS URGED TO WATCH STEPHEN KING BACK MINI-SERIES

“Some of the images, while disquieting (American children giving the Nazi salute, a Nazi storm trooper replacing the Statue of Liberty), are jaw-dropping. Start from the beginning.”

Supporting King’s glowing review, the series holds an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4/5 star rating from Prime Video viewers.

In response to King’s tweet, a fan of the show remarked, “My wife and I just watched all three seasons. Really well done and we were glued to each and every episode.

“Kind of eerie how familiar a lot of the scenarios felt.”

Another viewer added, “It’s amazing. Binged Season 3 in a long weekend. Battle of oppression,” during that period.

Someone else commented, “Great for binge-watching. Fascinating, provocative and engaging with some surprising character arcs.”

A different fan noted, “The opening title sequence is enough to make me cry.”
